Cecil Beaton’s wonderfully evocative recollections of his beloved aunt Jessie, a true romantic heroine and adventuress, who married a ‘a rich, moustachioed Bolivian’, and pursued a life of drama in South America. Jessie was an early and enduring influence on Beaton. He dedicated a chapter to her in A Glass of Fashion, and her style inspired several of his Edwardian costume and set designs, including those for My Fair Lady."
170 pp; b/w photos. 8vo, original cloth, some fading to top of the front board. A postcard with a Christmas gift message pasted to the front endpaper. Very good in good dust jacket (not price-clipped; light wear and ruffling to top of front panel; faint old stain to lower edge of the rear panel).
