Karen Blixen's Flowers
RASMUSSEN, Steen Eile; LASSON, Frans; HERTEL, Lisbet, ANDERSSON, Sven-Ingvar. Karen Blixen’s Flowers: Nature and Art at Rungstedlund. Christian Eilers Publishers, Copenhagen, 1992.
Translated from the Danish by Anne Born. A fascinating collection of essays, richly illustrated, focusing on Karen Blixen’s special passion for flowers and for arranging them at her home on the estate at Rungstedlund in Rungsted, a sea town halfway between Copenhagen and Elsinore. Here, Baroness Blixen, alias Isak Dinesen, legendary adventuress and author of Out of Africa (1937), enhanced her elegant house with beautiful displays of flowers, which she created as if painting flower pictures. These arrangements – unique works of art - were photographed by friends and their images are reproduced here. Also explored are the author's interests in nature and landscape, as well as her paintings, of which all known works by Blixen are published here.
Paperback (255 x 170mm; 400g). 136 pp. With numerous colour and b/w illustrations. (ISBN: 9788772414812). A very good copy. Spine slightly faded.
