…And Blondes Prefer Paris (From the library of Anita Loos)
[Ex Libris Anita Loos with Her Bookplate] DEVAL, Jacques. …And Blondes Prefer Paris. Paris: Devambez. [c. 1930].
This novella is a series of letters an American flapper on an extended vacation in France sends to her paramour back in the United States. It is a take on Anita Loos’s best-selling Jazz Age novel Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, first published in 1925. An entertaining tale following the heroine, Annabel Flowers, as she tours the most fashionable restaurants and shops in Paris. Issued by Devambez of Paris, publisher and pioneering advertising agency, for the French State Railways, this book was devised to promote luxury tourism to affluent Americans. A charming book, amusingly written, and filled with delightful colour text illustrations.
From the library of Anita Loos, with her book plate and ink stamp. A superb association copy. Anita Loos (1888-1981) was a legendary screenwriter, best-selling novelist and acclaimed playwright.
